Based on plans offered by the Governor’s Office of the State of Massachusetts, UMA/MATV will reopen in four phases. This strategy is being carefully considered in order to provide the best service for the City of Malden while protecting the health of its residents, UMA/MATV members and staff. As with so many other factors during this unprecedented time, the timeline may change as new information arises.

Statement From Executive Director
During these troubling times, our staff has been thinking and talking about racism, equity through email, phone calls and a virtual Zoom staff meeting. We are a diverse staff that represents different races, cultures, ages and life experiences. Sharing our personal stories, thoughts, and reflections has helped underscore the impact of dialog and “uncomfortable conversations.” As Executive Director of MATV/UMA, I am committed to the ongoing education of our staff on issues of racial and cultural sensitivity, as well as extending that education outward to the community through use of our media channels and programming.
Virtual Taste of Malden 2020
MATV/UMA was delighted to produce a video for The Malden Chamber of Commerce's Virtual Taste of Malden! Supporting Artists in Hard Times

First Virtual Annual Membership Meeting
On October 7, 2020 at 7pm, 67 people attended MATV/UMA’s first virtual annual meeting. Aside from announcing the winning candidate for the open Membership Board seat, Karen Lynch, we reflected with video and photos on the past year and hinted about future developments.
Eli and Hudson | Voices of the future speak now (ep 8)
The latest Culture Matters in Malden episode. Its a time we are all grappling with. And for educators, parents, and students there are challenges. But with challenges come opportunities. What can happen when we invite students into the conversation about solving problems or making things better. After this conversation, Eli and Hudson met with the Mayor Gary Christenson of Malden to ask things like where the city gets energy? How is the crime rate? How is city dealing with systemic racism? They also shared their thoughts about school and what could make it better as well as ideas for what might help the community be more connected.
