Government Access serves to connect the people of Malden with their local and state government by cablecasting informative shows designed to increase recognition of public officials and promote awareness and understanding of government issues.
Government Access includes programs produced by MATV, as well as local, state, and federal government agencies.
Examples of MATV produced Government Access programming:
- City Council Meetings cablecast LIVE every other Tuesday and replayed throughout the week.
- School Committee Meetings cablecast LIVE once a month and replayed throughout the week.
- Monthly Public Safety Meetings with City Officials taped around Malden.
- Local political coverage like Debates, "Meet the Candidates" Programs and up-to-date
LIVE Election Night Results. - Chamber of Commerce Events like the "State of the City Address".
- Coverage of Holiday Parades, City Ceremonies and Summer Concert Series.
- State & Federally funded series including In the Fight and Soldier's Journal.
- Timely Municipal information on the Electronic Bulletin Boards.
- Government related programming imported from throughout the state of Massachusetts.
- Programs honoring our US Veterans like the 3-Part Documentary Series "Generations of Service" and the "WWII Memorial Ceremony at Bell Rock Park."
Government Access on MATV does not include programs which are sponsored by individuals or non-governmental entities. Programs which provide political commentary or opinions rendered other than during the conduct of official business by a governmental body are aired on MATV Public Access.
