MATV Week is Coming: May 3 - 8, 2010

Save the dates! Coming soon is our annual week-long celebration of community media in Malden. We invite all MATV members to participate in the planning and production of the events taking place that week, and ALL Malden community members (& beyond) to take part as guests, participants, and/or audience members (“live” or viewing at home). Here’s the program for the week:

Monday, May 3 – Media Madness Day!
Members of the Malden High School drama team stage live improv on the street outside the MATV facility early in the afternoon. Come by to participate in the wacky skits, help on the live production, or just stand by and watch the fun!

Tuesday, May 4 – Youth Gallery Reception
Support young artists in Malden by attending the evening reception for Visual Voices: Middle School Art Exhibit in the MATV Gallery. The evening will also feature screenings of youth-produced videos in the studio.

Wednesday, May 5 – "Short Takes" Open Screening

Enjoy an evening of short videos—including animation, film-style comedy/drama narratives, and experimental forms—created by members of the Malden community and beyond. The event will be held in the Malden Senior Community Center auditorium, and there will be an opportunity for questions and discussion following each video. Click HERE for more info

Thursday, May 6 – Behind-the-Scenes of Wrestling Center
The community is invited to participate as a live audience or as a spectator behind-the-scenes in the control room of a live show. A special edition of Wrestling Center will be open to the public.

All Week (Monday – Thursday)

Special opportunities for nonprofit organizations and community groups to promote the work they do. We’ll be taping short promos to promote the work of these organizations — help tape, interview, and edit!

Saturday, May 8 – "Open House Showcase"

Come participate in an 8-hour live production featuring a wide range of local performances, interviews, and taped clips. Perform, interview, work as crew, be a guest, or be the audience! We hope you’ll be a part of it!
