Thank You For Making Our Annual Meeting Celebration a Great Success!
Our Annual Meeting & Celebration entitled "Many Voices, One Community" took place on September 18th at the Malden Irish American, kicking off MATV's 20th year celebration. Over 120 people attended and enjoyed a delicious buffet of homecooked food prepared by our members, as well as a sampling of food from local restaurants. The meeting itself was interspersed with diverse entertainment including a Kung Fu performance from the Wah Lum Kung Fu & Tai Chi Academy; a flamenco music and dance performance from El Arte Flamenco; and an acapella performance from the high school group "Emotionz." All members and volunteers were celebrated at this lively event, but the following volunteers received special recognition:
Volunteer of the Year - Karen Lynch
Producer of the Year - Jim Dello Russo ("Malden This Week")
Outstanding New Program of the Year - "Neighborhood Dish" (Producers Karen Yates & Paula Spizziri)
Cyber Cafe Volunteer of the Year - Andre Womble
Other Special Volunteer Recognitions: Christine Murphy, Paula Spizziri, Leslie Weston, James Mudge, Mike Cherone, & Marie Coulanges
An election was held to fill the open membership seat on the MATV Board of Directors. Two highly qualified candidates - Francis Mattuchio and Paula Spizziri - ran for the open seat. Paula Spizziri will join the Board as its newest member. That night, we also recognized outgoing Board members Barry Greenspan, John Spadafora, and Bill Spadafora.
Thanks to all who came, prepared food, and took part in the celebration. Thanks to the MATV staff who all played their roles in putting this together. Thanks especially to MATV members Christine Murphy, June Morelli, Daniel Nozea, and Adam Christopher, who helped out that day and, of course to Marie Coulanges who helped to coordinate this event.
Congratulations to MATV on 20 years of providing community media resources to the City of Malen!
