The MATV facility is centrally located in downtown Malden at 145 Pleasant Street. The main floor is wheelchair accessible and all programs and activities can be provided on this floor to our physically handicapped patrons. Full front windows allow a view for passers-by into the front lobby, master control and the main studio - often busy day and night with community TV productions, classes, and meetings.

Besides our staff offices and front lobby, the 7200 square foot facility now includes our recently converted main hallway which has been renamed The MATV Art Gallery and a recently remodeled and re-tooled --- Studio A.

Studio A

After extensive planning, equipment upgrades and rewiring, Studio A was reopened in December 2003 as an all-digital main studio along with Master Control. This was the largest single project taken on by MATV and was funded primarily from an equipment grant provided by COMCAST as part of the cable TV franchise agreement with the City of Malden and with the support of the Office of Mayor Richard C. Howard.

The new Studio A features a three-camera studio, & control room with a new fully appointed professional audio mixing board, a Ross digital special effects generator, Inscriber character generator, miniDV tape decks, analog SVHS tape decks, and a DVD burner.
In Studio A, MATV producers and community members with proper training can easily  integrate LIVE telephone calls, Chroma-Key (tm) effects and other digital and 3D effects, and can record shows directly to DVD.

Classes in Studio Production are ongoing, but can also be scheduled on-demand.

Master Control now gives MATV the ability for more accurate and expanded automatic playback of programming 24 hours per day over channels 3, 15, 16 for subscribers of cable TV service from COMCAST.  Programming formats now include DVD, mini-DV videotape as well as S-VHS & VHS videotape. Master control also includes new computers that run electronic bulletin boards with critical community information and news over the public access channel (3), educatiuonal access channel (15) and the government access channel (16) all 24 hours per day and in-between programming.

The main floor includes 5 editing workstations - two of which are housed in MATV's Youth Channel office and are primarily reserved for students of all ages, enrolled in one or another of MATV's youth classes. Both are eMac G4's fullu loaded and a dual DV/SVHS deck for importing and exporting.

Edit Suite One has 2 digital edit workstations: 1 eMac-G4 and a Power Mac-G4 - both with iMovie and Final Cut Pro software packages, dual DV/SVHS import/export decks and the latest in Apple's Garage Band and iPhoto software and Adobe Photoshop.

Edit Suite Two - Enhanced analog editing, utilizing JVC S-VHS decks, Panasonic
MX-50 mixer, Panasonic AG-A850 Controller, PC computers running SCALA Info
Channel Designer multimedia software, and Shure audio mixers.

One computer is available in the front lobby for free, walk-in use by any member of the public for web surfing, email, or other word processing task, as neede - but members and the public are invited to visit the  free Cyber Cafe @ Malden Square if you need regular access to to a computer with internet access.

The lower level includes staff offices, prop and set storage and a very recently remodeled and updated Studio B.

Studio B today is more easily operated by a small crew and is used for MATV's new weekly series of rotating programs: "Monday Night Live". Studio B is now easier than ever to operate and integrate phone calls, videotape features, and more.
