“Pictures at an Exhibition: A Tribute to Friendship” is a community project celebrating the connections between the arts and the power of friendship. The idea originated from the events that challenged Composer Modest Mussorgsky following the death of his artist friend Victor Hartmann. He would rely on paintings and exhibitions to give shape to his musical composition.
This project carries that creative tradition with Mussorgsky’s piece, as interpreted by concert pianist Yelena Beriyeva, to inspire artists to create their own pieces. This multimedia arts project was first displayed at the Jenkins auditorium at Malden High School, and is now featured as our gallery exhibition at MATV, Malden’s Media Center. A recording of the musical accompaniment is available via QR code on site.
A reception with the artists will be held on Thursday, January 12th from 6:30 – 8:30pm.
Hours for the MATV Gallery are:
Monday – Thursday, 10am – 9pm; Friday, 10am – 6pm; and Saturday, 10am – 2pm.
Exhibition period: Nov 9, 2016- Jan 12, 2017
The MATV Gallery at Malden’s Media Center is pleased to display an exhibit of 39 art works created by these local artists.
